Blog Post 1: The Introduction

Published on 16 April 2025 at 15:59

Start from the beginning?

Don’t worry, I’m not going to start from the beginning. I’m not even going to start in the present. Why? Because I’m all over the place. To keep me on task is similar to training raccoons to eat at a picnic bench and not at a trash can. Random? Of course!

Nothing about me is predictable or ordinary. I don’t try to be different, I just am. I led a fairly normal childhood, did the college thing, struggled and thrived in jobs, maybe even had a possible career once. But I get bored. I can’t even have a single train of thought for five minutes. By the time my first post is finished, I’ll have enough trains for a small rail station in a medium size city.

What? I hope you’re asking yourself that question right now. What the heck am I reading and what am I expecting to find at the end of this post? The answer to your, hopefully, burning desire of a question to know what you’ll expect … I’ll be cliche and say, expect everything. Just know that the root of everything you’ll read is honesty. Everything is considered to be factual but dotted with adjectives to fluff up the mundane.

My life is no different than anyone else’s. The difference is that my life is mine. I can control what happens day to day. Well, that’s what I want to believe but that would be naive.

I’m writing to the Internet void for therapeutic purposes for myself. Of course my hopes are that people can relate, laugh or be entertained for five minutes but really the main reason is for those individuals that don’t feel heard. Maybe they don’t have a good support system, just moved to a new country alone and don’t have many friends, they lost their jobs due to downsizing, got divorced… boy this list can go on for a long time. The reason that is, is because we don’t have it figured out. We may be grownups, but now what? We don’t have guidance counselors, some of us may no longer have parents or grandparents with sage advice. Every day we write our own manual. It goes through all the motions of writing a regular technical manual. We have a outline written in pencil, we have brainstorming ideas and thought bubbles, then we proofread, edit and rewrite. The final copy is never handed in or published. We seek feedback from co-workers, friends, managers, the grocery store clerk, your therapist, your rabbi, maybe even the neighborhood gossip.

My random thoughts and writings will delve into all sorts of topics, some funny and some downright cringe-worthy and uncomfortable. So I’m going to put it out there, “To Whom It May Concern:”, I’m talking to you. This blog is for all of us who don’t have it all figured out.

Thank you for reading this far, my name is Lindsay and you can call me the BarefootPanda. I’m excited to share my rambling thoughts, life experiences and day to day crap with you!
